The Emmanuel life. God is with us, let us be with him.

God does not promise us a comfortable or effort-free existence. He promises to be with us because he knows things will be hard. He permits difficulty because he has high expectations for our character.

Being with God means expressing to him honestly what we feel. When David cried out "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me," he was not lacking in faith. He was faithfully presenting to God how he felt abandoned.

Faith and Circumstances. You may be in awkward, messy, perhaps even tragic circumstances. Don't think that means God hasn't kept his promises. In these circumstances, God wants to demonstrate his faithfulness to you.
